Drank a pitcher of ColdSnap. On the verge of throwing up

https://www.samueladams.com/craft-beers/cold-snap

I can drink a pitcher of Guinness (4.3% alcohol) no problem.
but Coldsnap (5.3%) ...

never thought 1% would make that huge of a diff

Do you feel that much drunker? Or do you just feel ill? It could be the nature of unfiltered wheat beer. Or it could be the fact that that is all carbonated beer vs Guinness which uses high-nitrogen air for a smoother mouth feel. I wouldn't doubt that the much smaller nitrogen air bubbles are easier on the stomach.

no, not drunker.. just feeling ill

Definitely something else and not the alcohol content. As I said, either it's the carbonation or the nature of an unfiltered wheat ale. There tends to be a greater remnant yeast content in unfiltered wheat beers, which combined with more carbonation than you are used to, that could definitely be the reason.

I haven't had many wheat beers, but that's because the three I have had all made me feel sick, so I figured a fourth variety probably would, too.

A pitcher is like 4-5 beers. OP, are you like 12?

Some of us are lightweights. Well, I am anyway 😛 I can do 2-3 beers but generally any more than that is a bad idea. Although, I dislike being moderately buzzed and have no desire to be drunk (being drunk is being stupid) so whatever.

I actually had a guy I worked with contracted Meningitis about 20 years ago they traced back to a beer tap.

He was so close to croaking before he went to the hospital they had a Priest come in and read last rites.

Lets just say the whole shop was heavily disinfected afterwards.

Not saying it is anything that radical of course.

Looks like Kristallweizen beer. I preferred that when I lived in Germany and don't recall meeting anyone who had a problem with it.

Like others I doubt the slightly higher alcohol would cause a problem. But I clicked on your link and it looks like they've added spices etc. Some drinks made with those (bitters) can make me feel ill.

I've had a few bottles of SA's Cold Snap. It's not bad beer...but not all that good either.

Really? I am a huge fan of hefeweizen and wheat beers, I had a Cold snap on draft at a pub and it was probably one of the best I've ever had. Especially from a large distributor like Samuel Adams. Mind you, flavors can severely differ from bottle to draft...

And I currently have ~500 beers on my tried list.... Don't get me wrong, it's no amazing Belgian Ale (La Fin Du Monde, St. Bernardus, etc...)

Drink better beer. Sam Adams is ok, but there a ton of quality beers around. My current favorite (which changes just about every time I try a new beer) is Racer 5. Love St. Bernardus as well, but it's really hard to find on tap, and kicks my but in a big hurry.

It's really good, but since it's not local little microbrew, the beer snobs can't admit if they like it.

They would run you out of Bavaria with pitchforks for admitting you like kristal klear weitzen.

Me too. I don't drink often at all, so a few gets me buzzed. I vigorously stay away from getting a hang over. I hate ruining a day.

heh, after one beer, I start to feel it. I don't see how people can drink 3 or more beers in an hour or two and not feel the slightest bit drunk, but then again, there are people who think its normal to drink beer every night after work and all weekend, and if I did that, I'd build up a tolerance.

I drink about a 6 pack a month if that. Usually less in the winter.

what is that weak-ass hit? I don't swallow it if it's less than ~6.5%.

8% is my wheelhouse.

bbbut, you drink it for the flavor, not to get drunk, right? If all you were looking for was a cheap buzz, you would drink everclear and coolaid.

I find it funny in general when people say if its not X amount of alcohol, its too girly or I ONLY drink it if its a certain alcohol content. Who cares? If you like it, drink it, if not, let others. :sneaky::sneaky:
