http://surfermag.com/features/...ves/bullets-over-baja/

robbed at gunpoint, girlfriend raped.

then the article goes on to list a whole bunch more similar incidents,
that have occurred recently.

for a while it's been 1 or 2 a year; now it's sounding like 1 or 2 a
month. i don't have the exact stats but, my God.

in about 1960 my family was camping near the beach in
North Baja. some bandito's approached the camp and
requested cash. my dad had a gun and drew it, and said
something like, "this ain't no f'ing ATM". the guys retreated.

gives me an appreciation of a friend who has a concealed
carry permit and is very active in Second Amendment rights.

That doesn't seem possible, guns and ammunition are illegal in Mexico, and it's illegal to carry a gun.

Yeah I didn't know they had ATMs in the 60's!

Anyway, Mexico is a hole. It's a very dangerous crapland with corruption in the police forces. I don't know why people like to go there so much. I guess most tourists end up fine, but still, I've been to many countries and something about Mexico scares me.
