Looks like there is an expansion to Drakensang, saw it available on steam. It is called Drakensang: River of Time.
I was just wondering if anyone had played it and if it was any good. How about the original game--is it any good??

Thinking about picking up one or both of these. Would be nice if they bundled them together like Eco Draconis and Flames of Vengeance. For some stange reason the bundled Dragon Knight Saga was cheaper than the original game without the expansion. Despite some frustrating quests and lack of very helpful maps, I eventually got into those games.

The original was pretty good. It has a really slow start but after a few hours you get into it. Kinda a NWN/NWN 2 clone.

How long does it take to start getting a little more "fun"?

I like the game but can't really push it further than the first village...slow as hell and not much to do except bashing rats, bandits and barrels...

Yeah, had the same problem. THe first village is tedious to the extreme. Once you get to the city it starts to pick up. I guess that's a few hours at least. It's been some time since I played it.

Been out for a while on impulse; already finished. Its ok I sort of preferred the first but I'm in the minority.

I'm hoping they release a physical version of this in the US, though I haven't heard anything so far. :\

Pwahahah!! Don't do that it's just a game.

I remember a friend who was missing entire weeks of school to play Morrowind...the guy is a psychiastrist now...sweet irony.

Anyone played this game all the way through willing to offer their thoughts? Deciding whether to pick it up on Steam or not. Something to tie me over once I beat Witcher 2 now that I"m on an RPG kick.

-How's the story
-Dialogue?
-Graphics?
-Length?
-Overall fun factor?

I could have typed this to the letter as well. I need to try that game again.

I wonder, why is it that they waited so damn long to release the expansions? Correct me if I am wrong but it seems to me it's been more than a year since original came out? If not more?

Drakensang is a German game series, so completing English translations and voice acting, then securing publishers for the US and UK apparently took some time.

I played it a while ago when it came out on impulse. It was ok I guess; voice acting was off. As I said above I preferred the first; I found it a bit slow. Given the limited companions you definitely want to play as some soft of magic user (but you don't know that till the end). It was kind of slow; I'll probably buy the expansion which is now available for $10. I would give it a 6 maybe or a 7. I'm sure the german version is better where the voice acting might actually help a bit.

I think I prefer bg2 in all ways 'cept for the graphics.
