draining a watercooling system....

i've decided to add a danger den waterblock to my 6800 ultra. of course i'll need to drain the system before i splice it in. i have an external radbox for my black ice extreme radiator and thot since it's outside the case, it would probably be best to disconnect it there and drain it without the worry of getting the inside wet. any thots?

I bought two mini bar clamps from Home Depot that I used to cut my tubing for a flush. The brand name is Quick-Grip. I put one before and one after to hold the tubing shut for the cut. They worked great, even to the point where I didn't have to flush to get a rad inline. If you're running a T-line it won't be quite as easy, but draining will be a snap. The next time I have $50 I'm going to order two sets of valves from McMaster to make it even easier.

If you don't have any form of quick disconnect (they cost about 18 each) for the male/female attachment and you need a pair of them so you can drain them quickly. Personally i think 45 dollar is alot after shipping is added to the final cost but if you got the $$$ invest yourself in a pair of cpc quick disconnect they come in various flavors including 3/8 barb fittings and can be purchsed for 10 each on ebay or the 1/2" barb fittings which can be purchased here.

I usually just remove everything and drain the fluids from my system and fill the reservoir and bleed everything back before installing the parts. I hope this helps since there is no shortcut in draining it without some sort of device.
