Draining a Koolance before transport?

I?m on vacation and just acquired a new Koolance case from a friend of mine. However now I need to transport it back to my home, which is about 800 miles away. I will most likely ship it via courier (UPS, Canada Post). The system has been completed, with the CPU block hooked up and water in the system. I unfortunately only have the case, no spare water additives. I would like to know should I drain the water out of the system before transport? Or is it safe to transport with the water in it?

i would drain it. when you need to refill it, just get a bottle of wetter water and some isoprobyl alcohol. add a couple cap fulls of each to some de-ionized water and you should be good to go.

why take the chance? if water leaks out, it is at minimum going to cause delays (the postal service isn't gonna know what the hell is dripping out of the box).

good point. What about the drained water/coolant. Can it be reused, or should it be disposed of and new water and additives used?

I'd say you can reuse it if you really want to. It isn't like an automotive radiator that picks up loads of deposits from a combustion engine.

Thanks for all your help guys. I've finished draining the system (still some water left in the pipes that I couldn't get out completely ) but unfortunately I had to dispose of the coolant. This brings me to my next question. Does anyone know where I get get some Koolance Replacement Liquid from in Canada?

i wouldn't bother with it. just use some deionized water and apply some "wetter water" and some isoprobyl alcohol.

lol, this just keeps going on. Thanks for all your help thus far.

Where would I find "wetter water?" I'm going to a home improvment/hardware place to check and see if they would have it. Also what ratios of everything should I mix (how many parts water, how many parts "water wetter," how many parts isopropyl)?

wetter water can be gotten at an auto store. i have always seen people put a couple cap fulls of each in with the de-ionized water.
