Since I was a teenager my friends and I have discussed how to make this movie, and who to cast. We yearned for it. Lord of the Rings came and set the bar for future fantasy epics. Now this:

Dragonlace...as a FREAKING CARTOON!!!

Damn them. DAMN THEM ALL TO HELL!!!

*sniff*

It's even fairly well cast, if it were only real. (mmmmm, Trachtenberg as Tika)

*weeps openly*

That's funny, I was just recommeding that series of books for my wife. She likes a good romance novel. ;)
Seriously though, that was a fun, easy to read series, if a bit melodramatic. But, I prefered The Death Gate Cycle, myself.
I do still have a bunch of Dragonlance paperbacks, and I found the hardback Annotated Chronicles for 1/2 price :)

Edit: I spose I should address the cartoon, but I don't know much about it yet. Keifer may do a good Raistlin IMO.

I keep meaning to pick up the annotated chronicles and legends, but haven't done it yet.

On another side note, I always loved Larry Elmore's cover art. That guy has talent.

Interesting, I thought Dragonlance had been sort of forgotten. I'd be interested to see it, I read many a Dragonlance novel growing up.

They just finished the arc last year with the war of the souls. Freaking amazing ending to the series. What is it 11 books total? Tasselhoff Burrfoot ftw.

The first set of covers, yes. But TSR had him and other artists do new cover art for 3 or 4 reprintings in the 90s. Truly hideous, hideous artwork.

Yes this is VERY weak video adaptation for such an amazing series of books. Whoever let this go through should be shot in the head.

Oh, my. Those are some of my all-time favorites books. The Chronicles were amazing. I have since forgotten about DragonLance, but I own over 40something novels, tucked somewhere in a box.

I, too, was hoping for a resurrection of interest after the success of LotR.

IMDB is actually a little off on the history. Hickman actually looked into doing a real live-action movie some time ago. He was in heavy discussions with Jim Henson studios and Industrial Light & Magic, but at the time, both companies admitted that they did not have the technology to do it right, so it was shelved. There have been quite a few fan-made sites where users have voted on "the perfect cast."

I still think the perfect Tanis would be Eric Stoltz.

Years ago I wanted Keifer. He's a bit too old for it now though.
