I've seen this posted here and other places that the Promise Controller (IDE3) in ATA 100 mode enables the drive to boot and run faster then on the VIA controller as the boot drive (IDE1).

Are there any benchmarks for this anywhere or technical papers on this or just from experience and usage ?
