this might be a stupid question, but the specs for the dragon+ indicate 6 usb ports. 2 in the back, and 4 in the front.

now i've got 5 usb devices (scanner, joystick, gamepad, webcam, remote control). i'm wondering if when i get my mother board i could just plug them straight in, or what. more specifically, i don't understand the 4 usb ports in front. i'm also getting the antec 1040 case if that factors into anything.
can anyone help me out here? thanks.

the board only comes with 2 in the front on the smartcard reader and 2 in the back with io stuff
if you want to use the other usb header you need an usb adapter

Normally the front usb are used for devices that you would hot swap.

I have the dragon plus with the smartcard reader and 2 front usb but use a four port hub attached to the back usb for devices that stay attached 24/7. I also have 5 usb devices that stay attached.

The front I use for digital camera, etc.

Have not played with the smartcard reader yet, but I installed it anyway.

thanks for the info.

i figure i'll hook up the scanner and remote to the back and just hook up the joystick/gamepad/webcam to the front whenever i want to use them. and if i get tired of hooking everything up to the front for some reason, i'll just get an adapter for the back.

could the door on the 1040 could come completely off (easily, with being able to put it back on just as easily)? it might be better that way if i have things plugged into the front ubs ports.

everything arrived today except for my case. blast it! i really want to her out... i suppose it's better this way though. still have an exam today and another tomorrow. don't need any more distractions than i already have.
