So this game appears to have launched to mediocre reviews and then went forgotten, most people were complaining of the short duration (took me about 10 hours, without the end game sidequests), relative ease (pretty easy aside from the last two levels assuming you weren't power leveling), and wonky controls (I found them OK after getting used to it).

While the above complaints are largely true to some extent, once you get the sword swinging motions down correctly, it makes for a very fun game. The blocking and slashing mechanic is pretty nice and makes you feel more in tuned with the battle, as opposed to simply pushing a button. The story is OK, nothing too memorable but it doesnt get in the way of the flow of the game.

Leaving out the nunchuk for moving around the town was probably a mistake but it only took me about 30 seconds to get used to zipping around with the remote. And since this is an rpg not a FPS or platformer, precise controls arent critical.

The graphics are nice, not spectacular but pretty good for the Wii.

The foundations of a great game are there, I think that if you made it into a free roaming RPG (kind of like Oblivion meets Dragon Quest) with multiple towns and more depth, you would have an absolutely spectacular game.

As it stand now $30 would be a decent price which is what it sells for on ebay, or you could rent it for a week and get through most of good parts of the game.

7/10 with the potential for 9-10 with a more in depth sequel.

Was just released in the UK yesterday, I read the mediocre reviews, looked at it in the shop. Blinked uncontrollably at the £33 ($66) price tag and put it back.

I think I'll bookmark it until I can find it at a more reasonable price. Maybe $40 would be reasonable?
