Also, I dont think this comes with the software, so it is probably not a hot deal.

I'd be wary of this deal... the company that makes this Recorder (not the same company who makes Dragon software) went out of business (look at the awful Cnet review to see what i mean)

Oh, Purvin, I referred to immed. prior post that it wasn't a good deal w/o software. Thought the first ? is does the hardware stand alone [yes] and that's what I went with with my order [3-Yikes!]. Looks great, thanx!

The company that made the recorder went into bankruptcy, but their assets were purchased by VXI, who makes the Parrott headsets for voice recognition. In fact, what looks like the same recorder is selling for $179 on their website.

One nice thing about the recorder that doesn't seem to be well known is that you can add/extend memory/record time by adding a standard SmartMedia memory card to it. It's not a bad deal at all if you're just using it for dictation. Plus you can transfer your voice files to a PC using a serial cable.

Folks, I'd be EXTEREMELY wary of this deal. I decided to splurge and order one, and the recorder I got was REFURBISHED, not in the retail box, had no batteries and no voice link software!! I called up PC Connections to complain (no where in the description did it say that this recorder was refurbished!), and they said that they received multiple complaints about this, and are in the process of investigating.

I received my recorder today, but I can not tell if it is refurbished, more likely to me is that it is pulled out from a bundled package, cable is included but not the PC link software. On voiceIt web site it says this should also work with IBM's voice recognition software (only eraly versions listed), that is interesting if it works with the lasted versions.

Are there any sites that offer shareware version of the link software. I'm not sure if I'm going to use it that way, so I'd like to try it first before buying.

Has anybody tested it with a SmartMedia Card? It can not record on my 8M sandisk cards (says the card is read-only), although my card are not write-protected nor have any file or folder on it.
