Dragon Force

I've heard Wolfmother and Dragon Force. Can anyone recommend some recent 'throwback' type bands? Dragon Force sounds eerily like 80's rock mixed with some heavier riffs/metal. I can't say that I will listen to it for a long time but it's fun right now.

Not looking for bands like Jet that have been around for awhile. Also not looking for throwback pop like The Killers.

the Darkness ?

edit: looks like the singer/guitarrist left mid october because of a 5 gram a day cocaine habit. Now that's true rock and roll right there

that band uses 4 notes where one would do.
check out their video

Anyone who loved 80's rock will understand why I think it's neat to listen to... for a short time. 😛

Besides.... guitar battles rule. Especially when beer is involved.

yeah if you like Dragoinforce, you'll probably like Blind Guardian, maybe Iced Earth (they're more thrash than power metal), Rhapsody (although they transcend cheesiness), Helloween, Edguy, Dream Evil yadda yadda.

Dragonforce is like Wolfmother? Id say Blind Guardian.

No, I'm not saying they're 'like' them to the extent that they sound the same. Both just have more of a throwback rock sound that's so much cooler than any of the mainstream stuff I've heard recently.

Wolfmother reminds me of Sabbath/Rush/Zeppelin. Dragonforce makes me think of a heavier thrash Judas Priest/Iron Maiden or something. Really hard to put my finger on the exact sound.

Rhapsody is another one of them awful dungeons and dragons type of metal bands. Their videos are some of the worst crap ever to be made. Up there with Manowar.
