I was looking to buy Dragon Age: Origins for the Xbox 360 and I started looking at the Collector?s Edition. Then I saw that GameStop was offering an exclusive bonus for pre-ordering through them. This exclusive bonus adds: Feral Wolf Charm and The Memory Ring (on top of the other content that is part of the Collector?s Edition).

When I went to pre-order my copy at GameStop the guy said he didn?t have any pre-order bonus cards. The GameStop website says this will be available ?at purchase? for in-store customers. Does ?at purchase? mean during pre-order or when I pick up the game (the guy didn?t know either)?

THEN, he called me an hour later and said he had heard from his ?friend? that the GameStop pre-order bonus had been cancelled. Disclaimer: this guy is a complete idiot.

So my question to you: is there still an exclusive pre-order bonus through GameStop? If not, I?m just going to buy it from Amazon.com!

I assume like most Gamestop pre-orders, the code card will be in the case and there will be a huge "GAMESTOP PRE-ORDER EDITION" slathered across the front of the artwork.

Honestly, it's not really worth it. It's an item that increases exp gain (hello game becoming too easy half way through) and another useless in-game item.

I?m totally with you on the experience-gaining ring making the game too easy. I was intrigued (for obvious reasons ? see their website) about the other item, though.

Two other reasons I was interested in the GameSpot pre-order: same price as Amazon.com (so I may as well for a bonus), and I can get it on the release day.

If Amazon.com offers guaranteed release-day delivery OR drops the price below $74.99 I?ll switch to them.

Anyone know if my local idiot at GameSpot is right about the bonus cancellation, though?

I'm guessing he's just an idiot... website still lists the bonuses for PC and 360.

They suckered me into the collector's edition with the goodies and the Mass Effect 2 unlockable :(
I still have $90 in credit there, though.
