Considering how hyped the media (and myself) made it, I do feel just a trifle let down. I played for about 27-ish hours and stopped.

I also wish BW wasn't so closed-fisted toward the modding community. Hopefully ME2 won't need modding.

Thank god that Bethesda supports mods.

Short memory, much?

Which Bethesda rep was it that said in a Fallout 3 pre-release interview that there would be no official Fallout 3 mod kit until well after the DLC, if at all, because fans were too stupid to use it?

**translation: no mod kit until we make $$$ off of several official DLC releases

Fortunately he revealed this ploy long enough before launch, that the gaming community backlash convinced them to reschedule the mod tools for release very soon after launch.

Not all publishers (i.e. almost none) are wise enough to release a development/mod kit at launch, especially since the new publisher paradigm is to make more revenue off the DLC than off the $60 launch day entry price.

I'll wait until there's a Steam sale.

Beware, since the current trend is that patches and DLC will not work with the downloaded DRM version.

Just buy the GOTY version in 12+ months with all official patches and DLC on the same DVD set, and then only from a Hot Deals for $35- during release month. If you Hot Deals shop, you probably already have a year's backlog of games, anyway.

edit: [/bad joke on] Oh wait, in 12+ months, the EA DRM Authentication Server will be taken down and no one will be able to install DA:Origins and we will be forced to buy DA:2011. OOPS! Wrong thread! This belongs in the EA Madden thread. [/bad joke off]

At least they did release a very streamlined modkit. That is more than most companies.

You are right, though, the Bethesda has been becoming less than spotless as of late. They used to be one of my favorite gaming companies, because I felt like they listened to their customers a lot. I don't feel that way anymore.

How are they closed fisted? Most BW games have a decent modding community.

late to the party [been playing too many other games] - $40.00 for an expansion? There better be a hell of a lot of territory to explore and content considering the main game sells for $9.99 more.

I'm kind of surprised they're bringing what looks like the 'big guns', that is, larger addons this soon. Hopefully this isn't the longest one we get.

You can tell they were working on this for a while during the original's delay -- most of the plot stuff is mentioned in Gaider's second DA novel.

Seems you're right, I just read something alluding to that in an interview. Does anyone know if a saved file from someone elses game will work in mine? I just want one either in Ostagar or Lothering, I want to finish but I've done the first couple of hours of gameplay so many times that it makes me feel almost ill to play it again. My old saves are gone, unfortunately.
