Dragon Age or God of War Collection

I just got some money for my bday yesterday and haven't bought a new game in a couple months. Never played any God of War games but they are obviously great games so I'm sure I'd enjoy them. Dragon Age: Origins is something I'd know I'd enjoy as well cus I love RPG's especially Bioware RPG's. I can get them for the same price as there's a sale at Best Buy and I'd be getting Dragon Age for the PC since it's the best version. How much replayability do the God of War games have? I know Dragon Age has a lot of content and there's still new content to come but how much can I get out of God of War Collection after I play through it once? Thanks in advance for the help.

Dragon Age is a decent Bioware game, and if you like Bioware RPGs (especially the older, isometric kind) then I would recommend it, but I would suggest picking it up on PC instead of a console.

The God of War collection is great too, and you should probably get it one day as well, but it has a completely different feel to it. Each game lasts a decent amount of time (I would approximate 7-8 hours), but there isn't much replay. After you beat it, the only reason to play it again is to try a harder difficulty or unlock frivolous bonuses, like costumes for Kratos.

It just depends what you are looking for. GoW collection offers action-pack, cinematic awesomeness, while Dragon Age offers the typical trodding RPG style of Bioware.

i dont know much about dragon age cause i hate RPG, but I got God of War Collection a couple weeks ago and had only played part 1 for about 2 hours prior, and never played 2.

it is without a doubt one of the best series i've ever played. i'm about 8 hours into part 2 and part 1 took me about 10-11 hours to finish on normal difficulty. however as dumac stated, there is not really any replayability at all.

but to own a ps2 or ps3 and not having played god of war is almost one oft he dumbest things you can possibly do, just sayin!

If Dragon Age is something that would interest you, you will get far more hours out of it than the God of War collection. I'm not usually big into traditional fantasy RPGs these days, but I'm a few hours into Dragon Age (PC) and so far I'm liking it. The story and voice-acting is what you'd expect from BioWare, although there's no moral alignment aspect of any kind.

God of War 1 and 2 are great games but, as stated, not much reason to go back once you've beaten them. You should definitely play them at some point, though.

I got Dragon Age for the 360 because my comp can't run it and achievements...

but it is one of the only RPG's I've ever felt the urge to actually play all the way through. Completely interesting and engrossing.

However I did play GoW for PS2 and loved it also... so you can't go wrong either way.

just finished gow2, kick ass game. it also has some replayability in the fact that it has a bonus mode that lets you play through w/all your weapons to try and level them all up, as well as bonus costumes and stuff.

it is kind of like the challenge mode on ratchet and clank if you are familiar w/that at all.

GoW: Collection so you can finish out the first two games and try the demo for the third. When the third one comes out, most people that have a PS3 will most likely grab this game.

GoW 1 was about 8 hours to beat and 2 took about 12 or so. The puzzles are really fun.

Geez that's really short. I can't believe how short games are now. I guess I'll be picking up Dragon Age then as I'm sure it'll be longer then both games combined.

god of war collection! two of my favorite games ever made. kratos has got to be the most badass character ever and the story and boss fights are awesome.

(I'm in a writing mood today apparently!)

It sounds like you consider or expect the games to be about equel parts in fun so it's really the quantity of the content that you're interested in.

I would like to first point out that I really enjoy the first two GoW games and consider the "remastering" of them to be a really great deal. They're both fantastic games and are toally worth your time. The story spans across 3 parts and are vital to anyone interested in picking up the 3rd. There is always wikipedia, but the presentation and effect of the story telling is so worth going through that I would really recommend a playthrough.

If I had to recommend one over the other then I would say go for DA:O--it's going to net you easily 40 hours of gameplay in just one playthrough, it's a lot of fun and there is a strong chance you will replay it.

Oh and for the record, the first time I played the GoW games (without using a guide) the first one took me 10 hours and the 2nd took me 14 hours. I feel like some of the numbers mentioned above are a little low in terms of game time--at least in my experience. The games definitely stumped me a few times in the environmental puzzles.

god of war is almmost 5 years old, and god of war 2 is almost 3 years old, so i don't know about the "now" part. it is about 20 - 22 hours of solid single player gaming for $40. don't see how you can really complain about that "now" since games like Uncharted 2 are about 10 hours and $60.

and of course dragon age is long, its an RPG...

what struck me when playing through gow1 and 2 is that theyw ere actually PS2 games. can't believe what they could pull off on the PS2...

EDIT: oh, and both Gow1 and Gow2 took me between 10 and 11 hours to complete on the normal difficulty.

Since this is going to be the only game I'm ganna buy for a while I bought Dragon Age. I played God of War 1 at my cousin's house yesterday and it was fun as hell and I know for sure I'll buy them but since I'm poor I bought the game that is going to last for many multiple playthroughs.
