Dragon Age -- no Online Multiplayer like NwN? Can it be modded?

Is it true that Dragon Age does not have an online multiplayer component? Can it be modded? Could the decision not to include online multiplayer and the ability to have persident worlds be evidence of the game's consolization?

I would consider getting Dragon Age but I find the lack of online multiplayer (and presumably modding) to be offensive. Online multiplayer, modding, and the persistent worlds servers was one of the best things about Neverwinter Nights. If Dragon Age is offline single-player only, I might consider getting it, but I'll wait for the $10 special.

No multiplayer, and it would be a significant "mod" to do so. I don't believe the console market has anything to do with it; it is a single-player RPG. If you want a multiplayer RPG, play NWN2 or WoW.

Then perhaps you should play Neverwinter Nights or Neverwinter Nights 2. Dragon Age is not Neverwinter Nights. They are not the same. I find Dragon Age to be superior to Neverwinter Nights in every way, shape and form, but that is my opinion.

Also, this.

I think it's a sign of consolization. PC gaming is and should be about modding freedom and online multiplayer. In contrast, consoles are about disposable games and controlled content.

They don't just flip a switch and have multiplayer a week later: It would take a lot of work and testing to get a multiplayer/co-op set up working right. What would get cut to get the game out on schedule? Would a six month delay be too little? A year, too much?

Given that they are already having some serious trouble with the DLC not working out of the box (in a bunch of different ways), we're lucky it works as well as it does.

With unlimited time and an unlimited budget, I am sure they could have done a great job of implementing those ideas.....

Your opinion. I am totally uninterested in multiplayer, and I have never owned a console.

I don't agree with this at all. Most big console hits ARE multiplayer...I don't agree at all.

BG/BG2 weren't multiplayer, and they were 100% pure PC games.

404 Conspiracy Not Found.

Dragon Age on the PC is better and contains more features than Dragon Age on the consoles.

Yet again, THIS! :p

Uh... BG2 was multiplayer. I don't know if they added this after it was released, but it was definitely multiplayer. In fact, a bunch of us AT guys played through the entire SoA game (maybe some people continued with ToB, I'm not sure) every so often.
