You're not counting those who were going to buy it but who hated the demo and changed their minds :)

Also, if there's any such thing as a guaranteed buy it's a Bioware RPG. Baldur's Gate I/II, Kotor, Jade Empire, NWN I/II, ME I/II, DA:O...they don't seem to ever miss.

Well, true. But then there's the crowd that just gets more and more pissed as each title comes out that -isn't- BG3, and if it's not BG3 then it's obviously some dumbed down consolized halfassed faux RPG port :awe:

I think there's far fewer people in that category for a number of reasons, but yes, there has to be some. Of course I still think developers and publishers should be releasing more demos, regardless if it's good for their sales numbers. As they shouldn't want us to buy games we end up not liking, essentially wasting our money, but that's getting way off topic.

I cant imagine if you were intending to buy ME2 that the demo would dissuade you. I think it was that good of a game.
As far as their RPGs are concerned, I like the ones I have played (NWN 2, both Mass Effect games, KOTOR, DAO). Too bad that they abandoned the KOTOR single player franchise and no-one finished up the story after KOTOR 2. Guess they were afraid of taking attention away from The Old Republic MMO which they must think will make tons of money.

Isn't the first game projected to take 90+ hours just for the main campaign? If that's the case then for $40 it's still a steal in the cost/hour of entertainment ratio.

Edit: Just googled and saw that some people are completing it in 30-40 hours. That's more realistic and makes me want to fire it back up. I was really enjoying it, but was not able to play continuously enough to remember the story or what the heck I was doing two weeks ago when I played last.

I paid $24 for it off of Steam and maybe it's because I haven't played an RPG in a very long time but I have 70 hours into it so far and believe I'm half done. A few battles I had to replay a few times - I have gone back to a few sites after upgrading my lock pick skill to retrieve the booty that I couldn't unlock before - I've done every quest I could find but still unless you're cranking through the game it's easily a 60 adventure.

I feel like I stole it for $24.

If you like it, you should look out for the original.. They have the ultimate edition on sale fairly often that has all of the extra content.

Good idea. I've seen it on sale a few times but just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I hate the very idea of mmos but if the reviews from fans and critics across the board are stellar I might indulge and just play the crap out of TOR for one month. But I ain't paying $10-15/mo to keep playing what they've admitted is predominantly a single player rpg. But we have enough threads on that topic too don't we.

I have heard also that it is very oriented to single player. But I still dont see how this will work in an MMO. By definition a single player RPG to me has a start, a storyline, and a definite ending. So how do they keep you paying for the MMO if the story ends?? I suppose they could have and ending and then a follow up storyline like DLC is to a real single player game.
