Dragon Age 2 PC Demo Revealed

GameStop employees will be treated to an early look at a Dragon Age 2 PC Demo in appreciation of their support of the Dragon Age franchise. While early access to the Dragon Age 2 PC demo is available only to GameStop employees, the demo will be made available to all consumers on February 23, 2011.

GameStop employees apparently get it on Feb 11th...

Thing is... 90% of all GameStop employees won't even know what a PC is, let alone how to play games on them. They'll all have XBoxes or PS3's. I bet you could go into a GameStop and ask any employee to give you their copy and they happily will.

Good lord man... it was just on sale about a week and a half ago for $12 at the EA store!

DAO is $19.95 right now at the EA Store, the Digital Deluxe Edition is $24.95.

I missed a $12.95 sale???? =(

Yeah, EA was offering 50% off on most of their titles a couple weeks ago, including DAO, DAO Digital Deluxe, and the Ultimate package. Keep an eye out, they'll probably do it again. I picked up awakenings for $7.

Steams big sales always have some sort of DA deal anymore, but the next major one will be... Easter? Do they do that?

Anyway, I waited for the first DA to go on sale just because, but had I known beforehand I would have gladly forked over MSRP for it. Pre-ordered DA2 now.

Never played the first one, but will be sure to try the demo out for #2.

And it's rediculous that they say GS is supporting them... with what, using the PC boxes to keep the console shelves level???

Hey now, that's not fair! My local gamestop across the street still has a PC games section. Granted, it's a 3 foot wide section on the wall that only has PC stuff going about 4 feet up the wall from the floor...

I might be mistaken, but I think I preordered DA on Gamestop.com.

Isn't the first game projected to take 90+ hours just for the main campaign? If that's the case then for $40 it's still a steal in the cost/hour of entertainment ratio.

Edit: Just googled and saw that some people are completing it in 30-40 hours. That's more realistic and makes me want to fire it back up. I was really enjoying it, but was not able to play continuously enough to remember the story or what the heck I was doing two weeks ago when I played last.

90+ hours is pushing it I think. I beat it at just over 80hrs not knowing what I was doing (first play through) and doing a lot of sidequests (slowly), just the campaign itself would probably be quite a bit less.

seriously unnecessary but generous too. Bioware releasing demos for games they know we're gonna buy anyway, and other companies not releasing demos for games we're unsure about. sigh.

I only ordered Mass Effect 2 after playing the demo, and that happened to be just a couple days ago. I don't consider much of anything a guaranteed buy, so Bioware is getting extra sales by doing this, though it may not be all that many.

I've been debating whether or not to get the game at release or wait until all, or at least most DLCs are released with DA2 as a bundle. Not because I can't afford it but I want to be able to play everything in a fluid manner. With DA:O, some of the DLCs were released while I was still playing the main campaign so that allowed me to work in the DLCs smoothly. But there were a few other DLCs that came out way after I had already played DA:O 4 or 5 times and couldn't find enough interest to fire up DA:O to play them.

Well when you factor in refighting battles because they're so tough, you get way up there with the hours.

If you like it, you should look out for the original.. They have the ultimate edition on sale fairly often that has all of the extra content.

Lies. Once you have 2 wizards that can alternate with a combo of forcefield and crushing prison, the game is cake.

Yea, it's difficult initially but once your character levels enough to get some of the deeper skills, they're a bit overpowered. In addition to more and more potent gear (Especially if you've got some DLC items) it's really not that bad once you're over the 'hump'. I only ever played on normal/hard so far though.

I played DA:O on easy, and will probably play 2 on easy as well. I like the game, but hate having to pause and strategize, I like to play it more like Diablo.

The demo will probably be leaked over the net anyway.

I won't bother with demo, especially since I have DA2 on pre-order,besides I have Two Worlds 2 to play and finish before DA2 is released.

You're not counting those who were going to buy it but who hated the demo and changed their minds :)

Also, if there's any such thing as a guaranteed buy it's a Bioware RPG. Baldur's Gate I/II, Kotor, Jade Empire, NWN I/II, ME I/II, DA:O...they don't seem to ever miss.
