Drag racing threads don't get locked but Marijuana threads do?

I personally don't care either way. I like reading about both

Street drag racing is extremely illegal, but those treads don't get locked, yet a thread titled "have you ever smoked marijuana" gets locked immediately.

Whats up with that?

What's so hard to understand? Drug conversation is not tolerated on the AnandTech forums. Weighing that against drag racing is like comparing misdemenors to a slap on the wrist. Not even on the same level.

Street Drag racing is a felony in many states, and also kills people, mostly teens. How is that not on the same level. Hey I don't make the rules here, I'm just questioning them. If you think illegal drag racing is cool then that's fine with me, but your comparison is weak at best.

It's not about being a drug thread or a racing thread, it's about being an illegal activity thread. Warez threads are also locked around here. Stealing cable threads are locked. I just wonder why this other completely illegal activity is tolerated.

Drug convos are frowned upon. I assume because of the low average age of Anandtech's membership. Yet threads with titles like Fvck Disney! Fvck the Supreme Court! are allowed?

Locking a topic is up to the individual (anonymous) AT Moderators. Many "marijuana" topics ARE tolerated if they appear to have "value".

Since you didn't link to the specific locked topic, I can only "guess" as to "why". Quite often - even a legimate thread will get locked if the "replys" get out-of-control.

Study: Marijuana leads to hard drugs OK, so I JUST now posted one foy you. Let's see if this one stays "open" and remains "suitable" for AT OT discussion.
