Since the Lafayette program was announced, Elberson said she has heard many positive and negative comments. Some have said the program is inconsistent with their values or beliefs, or inappropriate for children.

Local one has us pretty mystified. So bizarre this has taken off and become the next in thing, but alas. Never too early to start.

I do, we have a great one around here (that’s not my parish). Ranked in the top 50 in the nation.

Others have said they think such a program could lead to more acceptance and tolerance.

“We knew it would be controversial, but we talked about it a lot,” Elberson said. “We are not planning on surprising anybody. That’s why we labeled it, so people would know. They have a choice. It’s one program out of 80 we are doing that month.”

Looks like you missed some, added it for you, I was concerned.

As soon as I read the thread title, I knew exactly who the OP was...

It's getting sad, dude. You might think about changing your shtick.

Lol, who goes to the library anymore?

My wife takes our daughter to storytime at our local library several times a week. They come back with 5 or 8 books each time, too.

Be a man OP and express you concerns in a straight forward manner.

Personally I think it's great.

Our Library is a pretty popular place. Lots of programs for kids.
Our Son just participated in the Battle of the Books where libraries across the county competed at the local college.
All sort of stuff happens at the library

Being exposed to something non-traditional is the same, exact thing, as being indoctrinated to be non-traditional.

If you're a scared conservative.

Go find a safe space.

I believe the scientific term for this is "Amygdala Hijack."

I think reading to kids is important.

I think kids don't have the hang ups that adults do. A good person reading to them is a good person.

Growing up we called my uncle's boyfriend Aunt Amos and he loved it! And we loved him! Well everyone except my father.

Fortunately, if you don't want your kids exposed to such things at a young age, you have other options as to where to send them to school. Frankly, I don't care what they do, but if I don't subscribe to it, I'd send my kids elsewhere. That is a parental right to determine the content of what kids see and when.

Maybe you should take the time to, you know, read the article. It's a library not a school and it's one program out of 80 that they offer. The only families taking part will be those that choose to.

It's typical dishonest presentation. He intentionally snipped a portion of the article that fits his concern trolling. Based on his posting here, I doubt he even frequents the library.
