Drag & Drop suddenly disabled on my PC. Two days and no solution.

Gang, for some reason my Windows 7 Pro based PC will no longer allow me to drag and drop photos from my PC hard drive onto any iPhone. It used to be I could plug the phone in, go on in and add or delete as I chose in Explorer. Easy as pie. Way better than using iTunes.

Now it just flat out will not work. I have removed and re-installed the different Apple and mobile drivers to no avail. iTunes was upgraded a couple of months ago but I believe I have dragged & dropped since then, though I am not sure.

See that? I never had that before. I have been on all of the Apple related forums and either been ignored or had people tell me to use iTunes to add photos, which I will not do because using it means those photos are locked on the phone. I cannot delete any of them without hooking it back up to iTunes. Talk about stupid on steroids.

I'm really out of ideas. I have a brand new iPhone 6 and no way to add my photos to it. The iCloud thing is a joke, as it just handles the photostream. My entire Camera roll was ignored, but it's all on my PC.

Any Android phone or Blackberry would be able to do this. WTF gives?

I have tried an iPhone 4 (my old phone), my mom's 5C, my sister's 5S and my 6. Same story with them all.

My last iPhone was 4, and I'm almost certain you can't modify files through drag and drop, but I'm not 100% on this. I would advise trying it on a different PC to see if it present the same issues.

BTW, can you copy the photos OFF of the iOS device?

Yes, I can remove them. Just not add any to the folder. And I don't need to alter them. i just want to add my photos. Right now I am researching various apps, looking for a solution.

I couldn't do it either, but I have never tried it before. Are you sure you could do it before?

Did you just update iOS?

Have you tried updating through iCloud?

Seriously? I have been doing it for two + years. It's the only way I did it. I DESPISE iTunes with a passion, it's such an insipid, bloated POS.

I now have an iPhone 6. I had an iPhone 4.

I actually got my mom a 5C 32GB and am having the same issue. I am unable to get her pictures on her phone because the iCloud ignores the Camera Roll, which is where we all put our pictures and so it only gives us the so called My Photo Stream.

I'm trying DropBox on my phone but finding it is incredibly confusing to use. I cannot tell if pictures are on my phone or if I am looking at them online. It's completely chaotic.

Do you think Apple might have locked this down "in order to improve the user experience"?

I remember having this working once on a jailbroken iPhone. I don't think any stock iOS since Steve died let's you manage media without iTunes.

Always Airdrop if you can get your hand on a Mac.
