Draft, what would you do? Another answer available now

I have seen many threads about who would dodge the draft and who would fight. Now i understand that many of you would leave the country before you would go to Iraq. BUT let's say that there was a significant threat to the U.S. mainland. That some country invaded Canada and they were headed South and Uncle Sam wanted you to join the fight? How many of you would still say Vive la Mexico?

My motive for this thread is that it saddens me to see so many people saying they would desert their country in its time of need. I would like to think that many of you would change your minds if there was a credible threat to the U.S.

I voted "NO" before I actually read your given scenario. If there was an immediate threat as in your scenario, I would fight for America. But there is rarely, if ever, such a threat. Thats where most of the "screw america" responses are coming from; right now, many of us, including myself take the military as a joke as well as this "war."

I have a feeling that if the US or anyones country was being invaded the local populace would fight back in one way or another. No draft needed, grab the deer rifle from the safe and head out.

I wouldnt be drafted, I'd be enlisting in the Marine Corps.

Actually, in your scenario I wouldnt be doing that, as I can look above and to the left of my computer monitor and see Lake Erie, and thus I'd likely be behind the lines almost as soon as hostilities broke out. But thats OK, I've got an AR-15 and plenty of ammo sitting at home.

Well, I'm exempt from the military due to medical reasons(which sucks big time because I really wanted to be a pilot), but given your scenario, I voted yes.

I'd do my part if things started like in your scenario. If it was an Iraq type war, I'd serve, but the second form I'd fill out would be a request for conscientious objector status.

I had this conersation with someone the other day. Can you really blame them for attacking an invading amry? Even if it is an army with a noble cause it is still invading their counrty. I am not saying it is right or wrong or that i support or condone it just simply stating that they are doing what many of us would do in their shoes.
