Well... so much for "15 days to slow the spread". Everything (in my area anyway) has been shut down for two weeks now, and US infection rate chart still looks like a damn hockey stick.

Yeah, they double it to 30 - morons. I'd be amazed if Trump could count to 11 on Viagra.

Well.... I have a problem.
My Trumpster family pretty much ignores this whole virus thing since cases in our state are minimal (so far).
And, they do agree with Trump that people should just go back to work.
They are mad the stores are closed and that the restaurants are closed and that some of them are temporally stuck at home waiting for a call-back to the office.
And.... they blame Nancy Pelosi and the democrats for this because democrats failed with the Mueller report, then failed to impeach, so NOW they actually believe this virus thing is all some blown up scam created by Nancy Pelosi and democrats to once again TRY to get at Trump.
I know, I know, it's all insane but still we're talking loyal devoted Trumpeters here.

So my problem.... those Trumpster family members close to me still want to go out and congregate together as if there is no danger. And they just assume that I, being family, that I will naturally join in on whatever festivities they have planned.
And I really fear that I might be playing with fire, and they are definitely playing with fire.
If I were to catch this virus, it would be from one of them.
Add to that, my father is 90 and they often try to include dad too but dad doesn't really understand the dangers of the virus and definitely not the dangers more so for older people like old dad.
Dad is always willing and ready to get out and go somewhere, anywhere. You just need say DAD, DO YOU WANT TO.... and old dad is up and ready before he even knows where he is going.
I hope I have that much energy when I'm 90, or even 70. ;)

So... I worry about ME, and I worry about DAD, and I worry that my loyal Trumpster family will be the next to fall victim to the virus with their own stupidity, then spread it around to everyone else.
It really does concern me very much especially as the numbers rise.
Denial must be a requirement to qualify as a Trumpster. And.... a conspiracy theorist.

Tell them to watch some BBC or Foreign News to see that their view is stupid.

Fauci and Birx were pitted against each other on the Sunday morning shows today. Birx has embraced emperor worship to keep her job, and was fawning over the President while essentially saying that cities and states were responsible for dealing with the crisis on their own. Fauci avoided worship and provided some frank estimates and hard truths, before saying it was his job to present the worst case scenario and overshoot. I’m sure Trump watched both and don’t be surprised to see Birx take a more prominent role in WH PR while Fauci sits on the sidelines.

I watched Birx's interview with dismay and disgust. She kept dumping responsibility on the state and local gov't's while shirking away from her personal involvement in this crisis no matter how hard she was pressed for what she and the federal gov't she represents is supposed to be doing to get this virus threat under control.

no the problem is those people are so brain washed they no longer watch or trust any other source.
Even if you convinced them or forced them to do it they'd just keep fighting it in their heads, saying its bullshit and fake news and enemies of Donald and all that crap. If I knew then what I know now I'd have locked out Fox News on my moms cable box back in 2006. They wrecked her brain and I hate them for it.

They'll accuse you of trying to brainwash them too.

In this time of crisis, our President reminds us of what really matters-

To him, anyway.

Of course his fucking "ratings" are high, he moved his pressers to the prime time news hour. At a time when a large percentage of people are naturally already watching the news. That way, the news shows that people actually want to watch are forced to switch the Trump, which forces more people to watch him than normally would.

The only thing the Trump cares about right now is his image. He doesn't give a shit about the pandemic. All that matters to him is putting on a bullshit fantasy show where he can claim that he's the hero in all this.

He's already set the goalposts for having done a "great job" at 100K dead. Don't sprain your arm patting yourself on the back, Donny you dipshit.

Meanwhile, is Pence's social distancing plan now being called "45 days to slow the spread"? Just curious.

Trump's either lying or mentally ill

CNN: Fact check: Trump falsely denies saying two things he said last week.

With Donny Dipshit, it's difficult to tell the difference. His illness is compulsive lying. For him, he will say anything that sounds good for him at the moment. No matter how absurd or opposite it is.

Spain and Italy are likely going to hit ~20k each... so world-wide... this sounds like what you would expect.

But for just the US? Yeah, naw - this guy is overblowing it.

Oh what data do you base your conclusion? You have knowledge unavailable to Dr Fauci?

Since Fauci operates based on data and not hunches are you saying Fauci is lying or is the data just incorrect?

Let's assume only 30% of the United States gets this. That's 98,000,000 people.

Let's assume the CFR is only 0.5%. That's 490,000 deaths.

100,000-200,000 seems highly optimistic. In order to allow only 200,000 deaths with a CFR of 0.5%, only 40,000,000 (12%) of the United States can be infected. If you increase the CFR or the number of infected, obviously the situation gets even worse.
