After defragmenting I found out from the report that a file called KGyGaAvL.sys found in C:\Windows\system32\ couldn't be defragmented... it's 252 MB and had 3 fragments. Thinking it might be a virus or something, I looked it up on google and found out that it's a file created by Dr. Divx. Apparently others have deleted it after it has grown to over 1 GB is size, but I can't even find it! It doesn't show up in ANY directory listing... it only shows up in Disk Defragmenter.

I guess what I'm going to try next is selecting all the files in the system32 folder, moving them to a temporary folder... deleting the system32 folder, then creating a new folder and putting those files back...

I've been using the latest version of Dr. Divx (v1.04) for about a month now with no problems.

I did find the file KGyGaAvL.sys in the \System32 directory like you described. I only found it after doing a file search using the exact filename. Browsing using Explorer or Powerdesk doesn't reveal anything, and I made sure I had hidden and system files visible.

Mine only appears to be a few KB in size, though.

That's really odd. I'll keep a view on it when I'm encoding to Divx and see if anything changes.

Do you have system files hidden? If so, turn that off and try to find it again. Not sure if that will help, just a guess. :p

Mine is 2.76kb, I have encoded about 100 gigs of stuff with DrDivx. I guess I'll watch it next time for kicks.

Fixed it by putting the drive in another computer and doing what I described. The file definately existed because now I have an extra 272 MB (error in my original post, it was 272 MB, not 252)
