Dr. Atkins Would Kill Me If He Knew What I Ate For Dinner

I've been on Atkins for almost 2 months and am having good results. I decided that once a month I will "reward" myself for staying in the induction phase for so long.

Tonight, I ate at Olive Garden. I got the Never Ending Pasta Bowl, ate breadsticks, drank 2 glasses of coke, and had the Black Tie Mousse Cake. I figured that If I was gonna cheat, I should do it right.

When I got home, I started feeling sick(never happened pre-diet). Apparently my body was unable to prepare for the carb shock. I ended up drinking a diet herbal tea to help "flush" me out.

Next time I "reward" myself, I think I may just eat a peanut butter sandwich with a tall glass of milk...

EDIT

I know Atkins is dead, so please no dead guy jokes...

never ending pasta bowl is so freaking good... i would go with a bunch of friends, we would order three different pastas with three different sauces, and swap around. then we'd order another round and take it home.

TOTAL YUMMY!

G & L Fart, BWAHAHAHAHA. I still laugh at the thought of that.

I could never give up Olive Garden. Fettuccini alfredo with parmesian chicken is fabulous. I always drink rasberry tea with my meal there.

What do you usually eat during Atkins OP?

I can use some recommendations.

How is your cholesterol level? I would never go on the Atkins diet if I ever become overweight.

I have no idea. I really don't care either. I may get it checked when I'm about 30 more pounds lighter.

Also, why would you never go on the Atkins diet?

Not very smart. Especially since you're attempting a controversial diet.

A majority of the controvery comes from the "calorie-counting" people. Dr. Atkins recommended that one should visit the doctor before starting the diet, but he said it was not necessary.

See that, you start a thread and all of a sudden you are being preached to by people who think you are not dieting to their expectations.

I think I've only eaten at the olive garden twice in my life and none within the past 3-4 years.

If you're going to be on Atkins, do it right, don't be an idiot. Everytime you give yourself a "reward" meal, you're moving one step closer to Diabetes and a burnt out Pancreas...

By eating the above meal, I have delayed my weight loss by a day. It takes 24 hours to go back into ketosis.

I am happy with my results thus far. I have been following the diet VERY strictly and better than most people (you try to limit yourself to 20g of carbs/day for 2 months). One time per month, I have decided to eat a meal that I would eat pre-diet. The first time I cheated, I had sushi (probably about a cup of rice) and some vegetables I can't eat now. This time was pasta and some cake. My next time will probably be a plate of Nachos or something.

Compared to the way I used to eat, once a month will not kill me.

My thought is you should increase your "cheat" meal to once a week. Happiness is a major part of losing weight. And food provides happiness, since it pleases at least 3 senses (taste, smell and sight). Don't fret about it.

Cheating once a week would throw me out of ketosis too often.
