dpvsetup.exe error

when i run my hardware test wizard i get a dpvsetup.exe error

"direct play voice"

cant use a mic until i do this (unless there is a way around that i dont know of)

from my understanding this is a dx 9 error..

all dxdiags show no errors and i have reinstalled dx9 a few times

cant figure out a way to uninstall dx9

can any1 help me resolve this issue please?

win xp home
1.8 gig intel pccr
