I see this mentioned for a lot of cameras and I suppose that some people find it handy, but I honestly have never found video on a still camera to be truly useful. To me it's rather like face detection or the ridiculous ISO 12,800 modes in point and shoots; a marketing feature that I'm just not ever going to use.
Then again, I've never been interested in making moving pictures, so I'm biased there. I suppose it all comes down to how each individual uses a camera.

its actually pretty useful in a pinch. sometimes for fun family and friend and pet moments, a video clip goes a long way.
