and.... CKG as well!!! 😀

Edited:
I changed the original title, as the thread became a bit more useful. 😉
(although congratulations are still in order)

Allright! I'll just imagine it neffer happened. 😉

Edti: dasm, you changed it!:brokenheart:

You're here at 109th

Doesn't look like you've been putting in your results.dat updates Bob...

Otherwise, you'd be Up here, with the rest of the team...

😉

Congrats again, SG! 😀

<-- finally got around to adding in all the 7.x and 8.x results to my results.dat last night. 😱

There should be some changes to my results soon, I hope. 🙂

if the client gets better as it goes, wouldnt they all take a different path? wouldnt importing a dat file make all the clients take the same path up to the point of the import? would that hurt the science of the project? that has been my main reason for letting it be so far.

That's a very good question, but I don't know the answer. 😕

Perhaps someone with more knowledge of the project can help here...

The last "version" had a best250.dat file that Stephen compiled and made available for all to use. I think that the distribution of our own "best %" files should be fine. There has been talk(out in the open for all to see) on DPAD's forum about ceratin teams using this practice of creating their own "best.dat" file and sharing it with teammates. Stephen doesn't seem to have a problem with it as far as I can tell.

Good point Bob, but everything he (Stephen) has been doing is toward optimizing the design. This of course is the point behind a "best250" and the higher points awarded to higher transfer rates - so there's something for everyone. Stats freaks, and Scientists alike. 🙂

Left unattended, you'll get to the 9.x and above transfer rates (eventually) - but it'll be a long, long time. You'll note that the client does a random every 3rd or 4th pass, so it's not like they're not in there.

Using a bestXXX file, just shortens the path to enlightenment for the application. 😉

You'll notice an immediate, and VAST difference in your output. 🙂

btw... asslaminated 3.6 GHz of new power today. 🙂 🙂 🙂

ok, tell me how to put it in there again, do I put it at the top of the file? or delete what is in the file and just put in the one you sent me? I am all confused and stuff 😀

It works best (IMHO) at the end. I constantly update my files (using *gasp* Notepad) :Q

I typically just delete old results that are lower than my present target rate. Your mileage may vary - but it can be done just about any way you like. Just pay attention to the existing structure.

Each record begins with "tantalumrodz" and ends with the line that has the transfer number (something like 9.203434 and blah-blah-blah and "<SolenoidsOnly>"

That's about all the rules there are. I've seen it done with a space between each record, and with none. I do it with none, just to conserve space.

For me - I'd just scrap the old file and totally replace it with the newest results I sent you. That'll get you rocking immediately. Plenty of time to collect those 0.000023 rates through the random cycles if you really want 'em in there. 😉

"Currently the DPC are also making such topNNN file. We have created a script that updates the topNNN file every hour. Every member can download the file and upload his own results.

At this moment it's only accessable to DPC members, but in time we will make it public.

every hour!

Hmmmm... I know Perl, and am thinking about setting up a Linux server...
Nice job all.

Kk4JC,

Actually... CadkindaGuy and I have worked out the 'issues' for the bestxxx, and will be announcing very soon the how and where. Edit: In retrospect, having a script that did the updating as well - on the server side would be way cool - and eliminate the need to mess with it.

What we'd really like to see is some stats collection and posting similar to the DPC's. I'd bet PERL could do a nice job for this purpose. Care to maybe have a "crack" at it? 😉

Here's theirs: DPC Stats
They've done a very nice job (as usual) 😉, and I'm virtually certain we'd get more participation with stats similar to these.

That'd be EXCELLENT!

Bot2600 might be inclined to lend a hand? He mentioned it last week, but I'm not sure how his schedule is, and wouldn't want to speak for him, but he's a PERL guru.

We'll be getting with each team member with instructions on file transfer, etc. This will happen soon. Even without automation, we'll be able to make a current bestxxx file available to team members without having to have it e-mailed constantly. 😉

You'd just drop your latest results.dat, and pick up the most current optimized, and dupe-checked one. 😉

I'm thinking that we could probably automate it somehow😉 It might not be every hour though 😉 I'm working on some issues and will have something to show for it tonight (if I ever get out of this hell hole called work 😉 )
