DPAD TeAm Milestone!

hey Dan C...

you are sending lots of results but they aren't worth very much b/c ur muon transfer is low..i.e. not beneficial to the project..do this to get much better transfers immediately 🙂

{also the results are weighted so if u get a muon transfer of 2-3% its like 4-5 times the actual amt of particles generated. and if its above 3 % its like 6-7 times as much particles as u actually generated}

do this:

You might have noticed a file called best250.dat on the website. Did you get it?

Basically all your results are saved in results.txt and results.dat...when u upload your results the .txt file is deleted. the .dat file however remains...

As u gain results the algorithm modifies itself to produce better and better muoun transfers and to analyze more particles as a result..the higher the transfer + particles the better it is for both you, your stats, and the project as a whole.

Normally this is a self-running process. i.e. the algorithm learns from ur results and slowly improves {ideally}....the best250.dat file however gives u the best 250 results as of october 2002. these allow you to sort of get a "jump" on things..
Download best250.dat from www.stephenbrooks.org/muon1 -its at the very bottom of page-...unzip it and open it w/ notepad...

If u already have a results.dat in ur muon folder COPY..PASTE the best 250 into that file and save it (once again using notepad)...

If u dont (say b/c ur first work unit hasn't finished yet) simply copy the unzipped results.dat into ur muon folder....

That's it. Welcome to the team and enjoy!
