DPAD/SETI Processor Trades!

TeAm DPAD is not insensitive to the efforts of the SETI team -- and Kokomo's thread about the Prescott made me think a bit... Freewolf had a great idea!

Since we know some processors are better at some projects than others -- why don't we offer up some swap CPU's for the projects best suited to the project?

Obviously both TeAms benefit from the arrangement. It makes perfect sense.

Our tiny little overlooked DPAD team is offering to assist the much larger - better financed and completely HUGE SETI team. It's all we can do - since every cycle counts in a race that we're trying to hold by our fingernails.

Uhhh... Much as we all love and admire you, DanC 😀, Freewolf was the one suggested a swap, and we must give credit and praise to our SETI brethren on the rare occasions they deserve it. 😉

Ahhh... well, um, err... thanks so much -- but I was less interested in whose idea it was than in the fact that it's a good idea. Freewolf can certainly have full credit. (although we've done this sort of thing around here for years) 😉

I'm doing both seti and DPAD also. Right now I'm pretty much doing Seti to help them out, but I do plan on getting some of the fleet back on DPAD in the not to distant future.

What kind of machines do you want for dpad? I have everything i can get my hands on running SETI. It is my intention to switch everything over when seti ends.

pwddesign, what we're hoping to accomplish here is to help out SETI without compromising our tenuous position in DPAD. So -- processors that are better at SETI, can be swapped for processors that are better at DPAD - and vice-versa.

We're so few - and SETI is so HUGE that we can't do a whole lot - but at least we can try. 😉

Hey I can throw my hat into this as well. I have a bunch of AMD and Intel systems to choose from so take your pick! I have no idea what DPAD runs well on so help me out
I have 2 AMD 1700XP a 1600XP running a 215 FSB a 2000XP a Tbird 1.33 and a few Intels rigs that vary from 1.8gig to 2.4gig.

If any if you guys got a machine that can do more than 13 a day in seti I can turn a 2.4 p4 with hyper threading from seti to dapad after I talk to our comuter guy at work tomorrow. (Shouldn't be a problem since he's a RA teammate also but I do have to ask)

Also popular is the old favorite, I'll do DPAD for you for xx days if you do seti for me for xx days trade.
