Ranking is done based on Mpts. Each result you complete can have a variable number of Mpts based on how useful it is. Most results I see on my machine are around 300 mpts each.

Mpts correlate very closely to CPU time. A result with 300 points will take a lot longer to complete than a result with 30 points.

using the 2 programs (muon calc and muon monitor) from the dpad page by overkiller where would my mpts be located? in muon calc it states pretty cleary what my points are but for muon monitor i cant seem to understand it. i think for muon monitor its the "particles" field that is telling me my points but im not sure :\

moun calc will give you accurate results. muon monitor adds a weighted value which is not counted.

I'm still using the quick and easy MPts numbers you see running the Command Line client. It lets me rank my different computers. (I just use the 4 minute number). On a computer that is idle, it is within a few percent of the Muon Calc. So, one PC is a 31, another is 15, another is 61, etc.....Your friends who need to be convinced about DPAD can trade those numbers to compare their power.

If you need to explain what an MPt actually is, it has to do with how many millions of Muons make it down the particle accelerator through the solenoid rings. If you run the Graphic version through one or two simulations, it becomes pretty clear. It is really just a cloud of Pions and Muons moving down a magnetic tunnel after DanC's massive tantalum rod has been bombarded by high speed particles.
