I had a look at the control options & I see you have the option to vary the amount of cpu power used on the graphics ,nice touch🙂

To stop it:

• If its the graphical version you can press the 'Q' key to exit.

• If its the background version, you need to kill the process using a task manager such as pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del

To make it easier to assimilate new machines and use the program, I have a packaged version of the latest client and 250 results file although uptake has been a bit low of it (which is a shame cos you dont have to mess about splicing results files, etc. with this 😕 ).

What does DPAD like best for speed.... hmmm well:

• Memory speed helps all things, but in terms of DPAD, its not the biggest impact.
  FSB speed has a bigger impact than memory speed.
  CPU speed has a big impact (probably the biggest) as at the end of the day, it is the brains.

The background version (as long as your system isn't doing much else) should hold a speed advantage over the graphical version. It has a noticable effect on how fast you can knock out results, but the graphics by default are controlled by the graphical version so as not to impeed the speed of the calculations too badly. Turning off some of the graphics will help, but at the end of the day for full speed you want to use the background version as at least then you can use the PC for other things also.

As for Auto-Send..... it auto-sends once the results file hits a certain size, but if I remember rightly it is a large size which only a very fast machine would reach in a reasonable amount of time and if you want to keep a steady stream of results going in for stats purposes, its better to manually send them every so often.

Very true, it needs FULL access to the screen to work. No screensavers, no minimizing.
I do auto as no so that I have control, and that it isn't connecting and whatever else without my knowledge. (So I'm a control freak.)

Another daft question!(me is a newbie all over again😉)

How do I know much 'work' I've completed?

If you run the viewresults file, and then press the 'F' key, it shows you the results you have completed since your last results send (and not all of your past ones and the best 250).

Of course, one result is not equal to another in work done to achieve it but, hey Assim1, your used to SETI so its kinda like the same $hit different day.
