[DPC]NoizyCows~Tomahawk also submitted a lot of results, but they're mostly duplicates. It may be a few hours before the stats update again because it's having to eliminate ~50MB of duplicates.

DPAD participants ought to know by now that large dumps result in significant problems for the stats due to the fragile nature of the entire muon1 system. Not only does it create unnecessary headache and extra work for the project's author, Stephen it is disrespectful to the rest of the muon1 community and is counterproductive to the actual progression and goals of the project. More involvement is wonderful, but please just run the client as intended or plan your flushes in a more appropriate manner (split chunks between hourly stats updates).

How come their are so many duplicates? (nothing dodgy going on here is there?)

Btw don't you mean they have an 11Tpt lead?
Damn it ,you know what? ,I'm gonna switch my 2nd rig over to DPAD ,even though S@H1 hasn't finished yet.Don't expect much though its not on 24/7:p.I'll switch it tomorrow as its draining off its SETI cache atm.

Is there any *.txt files I should have for best performance for DPAD?
What kinda output should I get from my 2nd rig? (info in 'my fleet' link below, which I'll update in a few mins!)

Ok nothing dodgy:)

Btw do USB flash drivers really go bad after a few hundred times use!?:(
My flash drive has occasionaly corrupted some data ,I assumed it was just 1 of those things that sometimes happens....

Inccidently ,is it possible to have DPAD upload/download to an intermediary?
How did that bloke 'harvest' results using a flash drive?
If this can be done easily then I have 2 old work rigs that could be brought in after S@H1 finishes ,otherwise they won't be running any DC:(

I would really like to know about those USB drives going bad as well, as I'm thinking of buying one...

Regarding the "harvesting", I think he just joined his results-files into one result-file on the USB drive. You can either do it manually, or use MuonMonitor.

I don't know how much you know about this project/client, but it does not work with WU's like others usually do.

Instead of me trying to explain it, I will redirect you here wolfraiders page...

A little extract:

[So?wait a minute?where do I download Wu?s]
  • This is the beauty of the DPAD Project; there are no Wu?s to download or cache. There will never be a worry of running out of data to "crunch"
  • The software is written so that it learns from its prior results and improves upon its design. After all, the client is trying to simulate the best muon transfer attainable.

Well, this is not the entire story, as the clients can download results from other users, and then learn from their results as well, but it is not necessary. It will most likely improve the clients scientific results though.

:)

Don't know much about DPAD ,been out of it for some while & I was new to it anyway (as you can see by my so far very small contribution;)) .

I think its the results file updates that I remember ,Danc & a few others would give the latest update to other TA members via email:D ,is that still done?
I want the optimium setup for tomorrow:)

Gonna be running DPAD on my 2nd rig in about 2hrs:)

Answer to above question?

Btw is there anyway to run the GUI version in windowed mode?
Also what's the performance hit for running the GUI vesion (at 1/8 frame rate)

Hi guys. I'm the DPAD user whose thread you linked to earlier regarding a large upload. I have around 50GHz running off-line of an Internet connection. Generally I upload a couple of times per week resulting in uploads of under a million MPts but the thread you linked to concerned an upload of around two million that got lost due to the USB drive I use to I take data to the upload machine becoming corrupted. I checked with Stephen in the thread linked but without timestamps in the results.dat there was no way to manually sort 25 separate results.dat files.

Should you wish to follow my harvesting method which is normally very reliable, it simply remote stops the services using netsvc //machine_name Muon /stop, copies the results.txt to individual directories in my local drive, deletes the results.txt from the remote one and then re-starts the remote service. Once all the clients are harvested, I simply run a copy command to join them all.

e.g. harvest.bat

netsvc //machine%1 Muon /stop
sleep 10
copy \\machine%1\c$\muon\results.txt c:\muon\%1\results.txt
delete \\machine%1\c$\muon\results.txt
netsvc //machine%1 Muon /start

Usage: harvest 1 (will harvest machine called "machine1")

Once all are harvested, run combine.bat;

combine.bat

cd c:\muon
copy 1\results.txt+2\results.txt+3\results.txt results.txt

(where 1,2,3 etc are the directories containing the harvested files)

This creates a single results.txt which you then upload using manualsend.bat

This process has gotten me from nowhere to 20th since Distributed Folding ended and my team The Genome Collective to 13th

lol WOW!!!

Welcome to the AT DC forums HaloJones! ;)

I've been looking for a way to do that for the longest of times! Now I can get my 100GHz going again...lol if only! :D

Thanx mate and if you're ever looking for another team to join, TeAm AnandTech would love you and you would love TA! ;)

Join another team

TGC runs FAH primarily now that DF is finished. Office rules prevent me running anything over the company internet links so my little workgroup needs sneakernetting and with DF gone, DPAD seemed the easiest solution. I'm only running on half the available machines and without a Unix client, my big iron sits unused :( but something is better than nothing, eh?

lol Yeah, it's a shame there's no Linux client, so many machines lost for the cause! I also do sneakernetting on most of my machines and DPAD really is a great project for this kinda sneaky stuff. ;)

SETI classic is far easier to snekker net ,run SETIQ on a choosen work machine you can have easy access too ,point all clients to it via LAN.
Install SETIQ on your USB flash drive ,flush the work Q to the USB drv Q to upload results/download new WUs.Take USB drv to an interneted PC & flsuh to SETI or which ever Q is your main.Takes me seconds to do.
Though as we know S@H1 is being killed off soon & S@H2 won't have SETIQ (not yet anyway).

I was gonna comment that all those commands look complicated & a little lengthy ,lol ;) (on 2nd reading I see you've done it as a batch file ,thats not so bad:))

Not to mention my 2/3 work rigs run Win98 & I think those commands you gave are for an NT based OS (2k/XP) ?
