Anyone know how to shut the background process down pretty when you shut the computer down? Currently, it pops up with the "You must end this process before shutting down".
I'd like to not have to use a program like Wizmo, but if that's the only way, I can.

I think you can use the same trick as with the SETI client. Go to the Windows System folder and find the file called Conagent.exe

Go to properties for this file and uncheck the box labeled Warn if still active.

So I finally went back and tried it, and it didn't work. Any other ideas?

Copy the Conagent.exe file into the DPAD folder. Then change the properties of the copy in the DPAD folder to disable `Warn If Still Active`.
Hope that helps.

Could alway switch to XP... it runs for months without reboot. ;)

Sorry... couldn't resist. ;)

That conagent.exe trick always worked for me. I have a group of 8 slow DPAD crunchers in a lab situation, all of them Win98, and they used to run SETI, so I had to set the conagent.exe properties. I switched them to DPAD 3 or 4 weeks ago and they don't give any messages when rebooting. Try it again because it should work as described.

yes, the conagent thing worked for me too, except for the fact it sometimes gets very confused, and will make the program perform an illegal operation, which I have to click ok to, and the shut-down continues...if this keeps bugging you, you can run the graphical version of F@H very nicely as a service...just start it by adding a key to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunService, or something like that.
