I either have bad luck or I'm missing one of the finer points of mini-DP to DVI.

I bought an HIS 7950, great card, no probs, has one DVI and two mini-DP.
And and HDMI but that's beside the point.

I have two LCD's.
One has a single link DVI cable, one has a nice big dual link DVI cable, only because it
was available locally the other day. They are both 1080P screens.

I figured to meself, it'd be neat to have both monitors on the mini-DP, mostly just because I like symmetry. So I ordered two active HIS mini-DP to DVI adapters, they look just like the ones Saphire and everyone else sells for $25 a pop or so.

Didn't work. One worked on either LCD, one wouldn't.
RMA'd it, just got another today, SAME DEAL.

OK wtf. The only thing I haven't done is swap the cables from LCD to LCD, but since both screens work on the one adapter but not the other, in either port, I don't think it matters.

Did I just manage to get two bad adapters in a row somehow or am I missing something?
I understand there isn't any benefit to trying to do what I'm doing, but shouldn't it work?
