Downtown Raleigh - worst roads in the history

So I had to go to downtown Raleigh this morning for the first time in a long time. Basically, the courthouse - serve on the jury duty, etc.

Anyway, the roads are so messed up, the car squeaks and rattles. Huge holes everwhere, everything ripped apart, massive dents and uneven surfaces that look shocking in a country such as this.

There was massive construction going on, so maybe they are in the process of fixing them. But it will take a long time.

That is all.

I hate messed up roads. Do you?

Try going to school there (class of '06 baby! woohoo!)

Hillsborough Street needs a bomb dropped on it so people will stop driving on it long enough for the city to re-create it. And that road is just the beginning...all the downtown streets are torn to shreds.

But then again, Raleigh hates Hillsborough St. in general.

If you're driving on a road that has potholes (might only work on highways) and it damages your car you can have the state compensate you. It takes a long time though. I had a friend do it when he got a flat.

Well I checked the tires and they look ok. The steering feels a bit more loose now. Basically, the roads are so broken literally that I lose control over the steering for a brief moment of time while going over the surface.

Tell 'em to come on! We got a new b-ball coach lined up and everything 😛

Seriously though, State's awesome...heck, Anand himself went there!

The one requirement for coming to State: hate UNC with everything in your soul.

Come to downtown Chicago and drive around for a few days, I think you'll change your mind.

Some of it is the weather and some of it is our wonderful streets and sanitation department creating gigantic holes/trenches in the road and deciding to wait a few months to fill them in. I've already lost one rather expensive OEM tire to this city.

Edit: I almost forgot, diagonal fvcking streets with no turn signals at intersections suck big time.

They're finally re-paving Dan Allen Drive on campus, that thing is such a mess. Still nothing compared to Hillsborough and Downtown. When I got my car here three years ago the suspension on my 93 Concorde wasn't terribly shot. A few months after driving on those roads it was completely gone and by the time I sold it the thing practically bounced down the road. Raleigh Roads FTW

I've been to Chicago many times, and you ain't got sh!t on Savannah, GA for crappy roads.
