My car is a POS, but HD is really really sexy. this is what my car looks like (1990 Honda Accord)

i would really like to say the car without reservation, but damn, HD is sooo sweet:(

wuss.

Do you like to drive or do you like to sit and watch a movie?

choose one.

I LOVE to drive:

There are just two problems:

1) car I want costs too much and I can't think of anythign cheaper that I'd like
2) The TL is an automatic

Get a Saturn AND a projector :D

It's just like the others said...what do you honestly find yourself doing most of the time? Not what you think about doing, but what you actually do. Honestly, I sit around and surf the net and chat on IRC with most of my free time. Based on your near-20,000 post count, I'd say you spend a lot of time online. Think about that. You're probably mostly at home (maybe work), surfing the net. You *could* be using a projector to surf the net :D

Projectors are a lot of fun (wait till you play Halo 2 at 720p...whoo!). I love movies and it's all about the projector on weekends for me. Projectors also have nominal maintenance. You have to replace the bulb about every 3,000 hours at about $300 a pop (so you put a quarter in a jar every time you watch a movie, and when it burns out, you'll have enough to buy a new one). A car, on the other hand, requires insurance, registration, gas every week, oil, tire rotations, fluids, washing/waxing/vacuuming, and a host of other things. Cars are fun, but they're expensive, even for "cheap" cars. If you have a reliable one that works now, I'd say stick with it and go with the projector.

Enjoy yourself, please go get that Acura 3.2 TL Type S. It's time to pamper yourself on the road. It's only 13k, plus Acura/Honda's are great cars in general as well. No saturn please, they is suck ass. As for the projector, PLEASE, what a waste of money, sure, sure, it gives you some "pleasure" for the time that you are watching the HD content. I bet you'll find at times you won't even be watching TV, but you'll definitely be driving.

burning oil is not a reason to sell the car. What do you mean by the "shakes"?
1)Are you talking about CV joints going bad, like shaking around corners or at certain speeds? $400 installed.
2)Shaking like out of balance tires, coming from one corner of car? $300 new rubber.
3)Shaking like motor going bad, shakes even sitting still when you rev it up? cheaper new car.

Find a good mechanic to help you evaluate the car professionally. You might spend a grand to put this question off a couple of years. If you then do as Spidey suggested, save the cash that you otherwise would have spent on payments, you'll be sitting pretty good.

What's wrong with saturns? they're no corvette, but they're nice cars.

I wouldn't buy a saturn because I've known people to have bad experiences with them, however, I do like the way they treat their customers. Their 30 day return policy is pretty badass too, where you can trade in the Saturn car you bought for another Saturn car. You'll either pay more or they'll refund you the differece.
COOL.

Ive got a spare infocus 4805. would you take that instead of a infocus 5000? i know its not 720p but it will placate your projector urge for a few years. then save your money and make a decision later.

budgetting is all about procrastinating on the big purchases.

hmm, that's too bad. we're on our 7th - my mom, dad, brother, his wife, me, and my fiancee, and then our old one. they've been great to us. the leased one is the first one I've personally purchased from a dealership, and they were great. I ended up getting $1,000 cashback and they called me up the other day and waved the $205 deposit, so I get a check for that too. Pretty nice!

$1500 is as high as I'll go for a proj. Not really worth it either way, but if I bite, I will mearly be nibbling...

yes, but televisions are definetely an excellent investment. i've made millions in the always hot used-television market. after they hit the 10 year mark, values can really skyrocket. for instance, i have a 15 year old Sears television and I had to install a security system in my home just to protect that bad boy.

;)

my advice is, buy neither. if your car is really falling apart, replace it with a newer used car that you can actually afford. if not, save the money for when your car IS falling apart.
