Downloading video to laptop

I am looking for a laptop to download video via the firewire port from a digital video camera. I know that 4200 drives are too slow and it is hard to find a 7200 rpm drive. The 5400 rpm drives are plentiful but I am not sure you can download from a camera without losing any frames. Anyone have any experience in this and any thoughts or suggestions?

"losing any frames"
What do you mean? If you download video, the hard drive speed and such only affect how long it takes. Digital video transfers bit by bit (a logical bit, as in 8 bits = 1 byte) and you will not "lose frames" for any reasons. There is error correction to ensure that the data transfer is complete.

That said, you don't really need a 7200RPM drive for video transfer. It will help surely, but is not necessary. 5400RPM drives are your best bang for the buck without a doubt.
At the website in my signature, we have an article on RPM Speed and how it affects performance, battery life, and heat.
