my mom started doing a lot of downloading for some craft thing

little files do ok but once they get over 5 or 6MB the downloading with suddenly stop

i tried downoading on Mozzila, and then on IE with leechget (some guys told my to get a downoad manager so i did)

on leach get it say that say 10.6 of 14 Mb is downloading and 00:00 seconds left

i have 98SE, dial up, 56K Modem (which is another question i have a 56K modem but when i put my mouse over the thing it the task tray it says ...bytes sent @ 24000 bps, shouldnt it be 56000 bps)

how do i fix the downloading its not just her craft stuff either, i tried some stuff from microsft.com and it did the same thing

if the file is only 1 to 2 meg it does fine

i hope this is the right forum, i tried general hardware and they told me a download manager would work but it didnt, and i didnt know if it was software or this one

please help

It may be a time out issue with the ISP.

Does the connection drop when the download stops?
Have you tried a download manager and then tried a resume (if the download site allows).

Sounds like your mom has bad phone lines (or is a long distance from the nearest switch) connecting at that spead. 52000 kbps is the highest I have ever seen with a modem. My grandparents (5 miles from the nearest 500 person town) can not exceed 28000 kbps.

when the downloading stops its still connected to the internet but it doesnt download anymore, i used the leechget downloading mananger but i cant resume because it doesnt see it as stopping, it says that it has zero seconds left.

how do i know if it is a time out with the isp
