I pay for the 15mps download when i download the max I have ever hit was 1.81 mbps. Is there any way I can increase my speed to the 15mps that time warner has promissed us. Also I seen a motherboard with a Quad 10/100/1000Mbps thats 4 eithernet ports what is the benefit of this.

forgot to mention that I have a Timewarner cable modem a belkin router. And i ahve a abit ip-35-e hooked up and vonage hooked up to my network connection

Just because you can receive 15mps, doesn't mean that where you're downloading from can send at that speed.

Try Speedtest.net

Sounds to me you probably got things wrong. My guess is you mean the highest you've gotten was 1.8 MB/sec transfer rate which is ideal for 15mbps.

Try connecting the pc directly into the cable modem and redo the speed test. This will tell you if the router is the problem.

note there is a difference between 1.8Mb/s and 1.8MB/s
I have cable here in florida that is 15/2 and my max download when i download a file is around 1.8-1.9MB/s not Mb/s
Don't always trust speedtest.net your only going to see good speeds if timewarner has good routing in your area and is peered with the right people.
I have good luck with speakeasy.net/speedtest, try that, test to the closest location and see what you get.

Yeah, there shady like that.
I know here they only guarantee 1Mb/s, Pretty crappy I think. Good thing i get more then 15mb/s i would be pissed.
