Downloading question : w/o RESUME

I occasionally encounter a situation where I need to DL a file from a site that does not support RESUME. Large files become impossible as my connection is usually shortlived.

Is there a way to move (i.e. download) a file to a location that supports RESUME. If so, any suggestions where?

If you're downloading from a FTP, then you can use FlashFXP to transfer that file to another FTP that you know supports resuming. Some FTPs block "FTP bounce" which will not allow you to do this. Other than that, there is no other way AFAIK.

if ya got time ask a friend to download it for ya, burn it, and mail it to you

every thought of asking someone online to transfer it to their site temporarily... i don't know if i could do it cuz i don't know how big you are talking...
