Im surprised... this is seriously speedy fast... I tried about 4-5 different servers at first but all were super slow... then on umn.edu, they were seeding a torrent so i thought i might give it a shot...

i'm pulling right about 1.1 MB/s right now, with 92 kB/s upload

How did it take me so long to start doing this?

I assume you can still get to a text based login. nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Find fglrx and replace it with ati to get it back to default, so you can at least get a bit more work done with it. PM me if you'd like some help.

yeah...it's scary to lose everything (since tries to load X automatically) but it's definitely recoverable.

This your first linux distro? I have never used any, but always considered giving one of them a whirl. The most user friendly of course
