Downloading at high speeds disconnects wireless connection!

Hey everyone

I seem to be having trouble maintaining a connection for download at high speeds on my computer. The stupid internet connection keeps dropping if I reach high download speeds (say 300-400kbps and above). I thought the issue was just download accelerator, but this also occurs through regular firefox browser, IE, and AIM.

What's going on!? I can't seem to find the solution. Any suggestions would be very helpful!

Thanks in advance!

In most cases this is caused by the router being overloaded.

We would also appreciate details of your network hardware. 🙂

hehe, stupid me.

i have a linksys wrt54g, and I use a usb g adapter by microsoft (model MN-710 )

i had to use a wired connection as a result of this problem. shouldn't the router be able to handle high volume dls? I was the only downloader at the time, and I'm the only person with a wireless connection to it.

Hmm, the problem might lie within the Microsoft adapter then. You should consider updating it's firmware and drivers.

I have a WRT54g with two Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG clients and they have no problem with 350Kb/s speeds with wireless.

yeah... unfortunately i couldn't find updated drivers online

is there even firmware for usb adapters?

should i think about getting different usb adapter? if so, are your intel adapters recommended? (are they USB?)

thanks so much
