downloaded ubuntu linux - what next ???

I have just finished dowloading the "install" version of ubuntu linux.

After I get this transferred/copied over to a CD, is this O/S directly bootable/installable from this copied image ?

Am I correct, just have CD as first bootable device and start install process similiar to Windows ?
