Downloaded disk not opening

Someone sent me a CD-R disk which contained a downloaded program. When I try to read and install it I am not able to read it.It just keeps showing the hourglass [ a circle in windows 7 ]. I am using Win 7.He states he checked it and it looked fine.

Somebody probably failed to close the CDR.

That's what I thought.If he didn't only he could read it. Am I correct?

You are correct. When a disk is open, it can only be read on the machine that wrote it. It should look fine on his system.

Send it back, have him close the disk then send it back to you.

Or get him to make a new disk and close it.
