Downloaded an app when it was free, had to reset my phone, will I be charged?

If I downloaded an App when it was being offered for free and I had to reset my phone later, will I be charged now if I try to install/download it again? I'm worried after hitting the Buy Now button will actually charge me instead of downloading the app.

Did you sync your phone between when you got the app and reset?

If yes, then iTunes has already stored the App and you won't need to re-download it.

If no... then I am not sure. I think you will be ok, but I can't say for sure.

If you download an app you've already bought it'll tell you've bought it before and let you download it for free.

Now, if the developer released a new app when it moved to pay this won't help you.

no

when you try to download it again it will say "you have paid for this item so we'll let you dl it again for free" or something to that effect

Theoretically, your iTunes account should have the purchase on record.

Duh, he shouldn't need to sync to iTunes, you're right. Syncing to iTunes would ensure that he wouldn't have had to download it again, but the Store has a record of the purchase, and the purchase price.
