download win 10,, Install 6 months later. Can I?

Win 10 keeps bugging me to download and install. I do NOT want to install win 10.
Can I download win 10 and install it 6 months from now!!!
With the Holidays coming up, people visiting and using the computers, grand kids doing homework on the computers I don't need the hassle of updating 3 machines now.
I'm willing to download the win 10 files BUT, I want to install them when I WANT TO INSTALL THEM!!!!!
Can I pick a date and time that is best for me to install win 10?
If so,, how do I do that?

They give you 1 year for the "free" update.
You will keep getting nagged about it, as long as you still have the updates that nag you about win 10 running.
You can remove that patch if you want.

You can also download the ISO of win 10, and update when you are ready.

The one year is from July 29, 2015 and if you don't upgrade in place within that timeframe you lose your free update.

To have the machine Qualify for the free upgrade to be used at a later date
the Upgrade, has to be done before July 2016. Downloading it will not be enough

You can do the free upgrade anytime up to July 2016

(3) Format & restore image from step 1.


As long an you only use either the original version of Windows or Windows 10 (not both) you should be fine.

Not sure if I asked the right way. I will go up to win 10 in the future. To ask differently, can I download win 10 and upgrade later on.
Example..... Download the software tonight. Then on April 15, 2016 install that software???

LOLOL I know I am slow!!!! I am looking at 3 machines and possible more. Once relatives and friends find out I've upgraded they call me and want me to do thier upgrades. By waiting I do things at my pace and take my time to learn things better

I'm still holding out , as I will do a clean install on my win 7 gaming system ,needs a good cleaning after all the years of use.
just have not have the time to do it.

It takes me approximately 3 hours per machine to perform a clean install and restore my software from their original discs. I stopped imaging years ago and only back up my data files for the software. This gives me a fresh everything including registry entries to begin anew with.

A twist on that procedure: if you have an old HDD (even an 80GB or smaller), you can install cleanly to that using the gatherosstate/genuineticket.xml trick (worked on my 7 Pro work machine), then pop the original hard drive in and have the "digital entitlement" license active. Should take less than an hour, mostly unattended.
