I have a 2Mbps connection yet my bittorrent downloads rarely reach anything above 30kb/s , is there anything I can do about this?

Some ISP's are blocking some of the common ports used for bittorrent. Also, what is your upload bandwidth set at in the torrent client? This will also affect download speed.

See what you get on upload/download without using any alleged accelerators. IOW, disable Bit Torrent and test at the same site.

Downloads without BT or an accelerator are roughly 105 - 150 kb/s
With BT I noticed some sites say I have a bad connection, I use Zonealarm but sometimes turn it off whilst downloading, is there any way to make the connection better?

ae you behind a router? it could be a port-forward issue.

It is also true that ISPs are throttling users.

Try uTorrent and see what you find. I switched to it from Azureus and was very happy with the small footprint and the capabilities. Yo can also troubleshoot he connection a bit using Options/Speed Guide
