 I have just started having problems downloading on my home network, any large files say bigger than 100MBs never finish download to the end. It keeps coming up Download finished when the file is not complete. This is happening on all 4 computers on my network which are running Win XP. This only started a few weeks ago and I cant pin it down to anything I have done. All computers are conected to my cable modem via a router and that has been in place for over a year with no problems. any ideas anyone
Also I have been getting the error message : conection with server reset whatever that means.

Not a real complete solution, but Windows generally is bad with file downloads, especially big ones.

To fix this, I use a program called reGet. It's a download manager. So when you start a download, it would start. If the connection got reset, then reGet would just continue with the download after connection is back up.

what was the last windows update you performed? also, maybe an unrelated fix might be to get newer firmware for your router.

Could your provider have implemented some sort of file size cap? Does the server reset error come up only when downloading or at any time?

didn't know that , will have to stop doing those 200mb demo DL's and 4+gig file transfers on my
home lan.

if this is happening on all your comps you need to eliminate potential problem points . hook just one comp up directly to the modem and see if you have the same problem. also check with your ISP and have them test from thier end. sounds like your modem might be getting flaky though.
good luck

Thanks for all the replies, will try try some of them and see what happens.
P.S does GetRight work will Broadband, had it a couple of years ago with my old 56K modem and it worked well. It would be an option for dropped downloads. Anyone useing GetRight with there Broadband connection?

I'm gonna reccomend Download Accelerator as well. It has the ability to resume downloads, as well as split the file over servers for optimal/faster downloads.
