I just installed XP pro on a new 120GB IDE RAID1 array and I'm now having a weird problem. I can browse the internet just fine, but whenever I try to download a file, it just times out and says something like "the server has been reset". I tried many different files from many different sites and its always the same. It downloaded twice out of well over 30 tries. The fact that it worked at all makes me think it is a windows problem and I may need to reinstall already. It is on a network with many other computers and they all work just fine. I tried assigning an ip manually or using dhcp from the linksys router and its the same either way. There may be an update that fixes it, but I can't download any Windows updates. Please help me so I don't have to format again already!!!

I have the same problems as you do a few weeks ago.

I have no ideas how to solve it and I finally format the harddrive and reinstall the windows xp again, are you sure you are using a valid cd key?

Sounds like your permissions are screwed up... but i have never had that problem... OTOH i have never installed XP on a RAID system either, only MS Server systems and *nix systems...

I assume you have no firewall or proxy that needs to be cleared of it's cache?
