Do download managers actually speed up downloads by splitting up the file and stuff? Many people claim that there download speed increased while using them but I do not see how this would increase download speed at all.
 
I use Getright. However, it will of course only speed the download to the limit of your connection.
And some servers will limit the number of connections allowed per IP address, so a segmented download (as Getright calls it) may need file mirrors to work.
